This will be the first workshop focusing on the technique involved for Pivot moves for leader and follower.
Other than the tango walk, the pivot turn or “Ocho” is a fundamental element of Argentine Tango.
Focus will be on the preparation to execute elegant pivots, finding one’s axis, balance, collection and speed, keeping with the frame while expressing individuality.
Specific attention will be given to the orientation of the chest, hips, knees and feet.
Ochos will range from ostentatious to teensy weensy according to musical interpretation.
Stylizing: Embellishments for followers and leaders
If you have ever …
- … been inclined to depend on your partner for the sheer energy and momentum to accomplish an ocho
- … used your ‘other’ foot to push off
- … wobbled or lost your balance when pivoting alone
… then this class is for you!
